Rifle. Ohio State Posts Record Setting Performance at NCAA Qualifier

Columbus, Ohio- The Ohio State rifle team fired a team record 4633 combined score Sunday at the NCAA Qualifier held at the Hugh W. Wylie Range.

The Buckeyes were led in both smallbore and air rifle by junior Amanda Luoma. The Cortland, Ohio native fired a season best 584 in the smallbore and a personal best 593 in air rifle. Freshman Remington Lyman also posted a personal best in air rifle with a 583, while posting a solid 574 in smallbore.

Senior Maxwell Snyderman (574), sophomore Greg Hagar (572) and junior Dan Chapman (568) rounded out team scoring for the Buckeyes in smallbore. The team smallbore score of 2304 was a season high. Other notable performances included a 575 by senior Walter Riker, and a 570 from both senior Robert Mangaudis and freshman Alex Kimura.

In air rifle, Chapman (578), Hagar (577) and Snyderman (573) rounded out team scoring for Ohio State, while Kimura posted a personal best 582 and sophomore Megan Polonsky fired a 577.

Team selection for the NCAA Rifle Championships, which will be hosted by Ohio State March 8-10, will take place on Wednesday with individuals being selected on Thursday.

Ohio State returns to action next weekend to defend its Western Intercollegiate Rifle Conference Championship. The WIRC Championship will take place Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23, at the Hugh W. Wylie Range.
